Dear Friends of VOV,
The year 2017 has been year of joy and great progress for all those involved with The Voice of the Voiceless. Our educational endeavors have been continual and has born success with increases in the grades of all our students.
This newsletter serves to give you summary of the year’s activities and news.
Outings and Events
V.OV is committed to a holistic program and below are some of the outings and events that have taken place this year.
- January: Opening Gathering
Lunch and intake of new students. Goal setting and expected outcomes for the academic year.
- June: End of Semester Braai and Games
A Braai to celebrate a successful semester of classes. We played many games, such as soccer, chess etc.
- August: Table Mountain Hike and Sea Point Beach
A hike up the iconic Table Mountain, overseen by the Table Mountain Hiking Club. Our students learned hiking rules and a lot of information about nature and their part to play in the preservation of our environment.
After the hike the students took a dip in the ocean at Sea Point Beach.
- September: Might Men Conference
The Mighty Men Conference took place on the weekend of the 29th of September. The conference’s main objective is to promote positive Christian family values, whilst specifically promoting inspirational male behavior, both in the family setting, as well as society as a whole.
Our students and tutors camped out for the weekend and had a wonderful time. They took part in workshops, attended various talks and enjoyed the idyllic natural setting of the Moresun farm in Malmesbury in the Western Cape of South Africa.
- November: Hiking in Muizenberg
A hike in picturesque Muizenberg – the students putting into practice all the things they learned from the Table Mountain Hiking Club.
- December: End of Year Party
A lunch to celebrate and reflectt on a successful academic year.
Donations and Thanks
In June, Franz Esser and his son Michael completed a 10 day cross-Pyrenees solo 4x4 journey as a "challenge" to help raise the profile of VOV and to raise funds for the purchase of a vehicle. Franz initiated a JustGiving Page and with the help of ten other sponsors was able to raise enough for a deposit for a sorely needed vehicle for V.O.V. We are extremely appreciative of their efforts.
We would also like to thank all our other donors, as well as Pastor Bruce and the EMC Church in Hanover Park.
Facebook and Website
In May, our website and Facebook pages went live to favorable responses. These channels will mainly be used to recruit volunteers, accept online donations, as well as keep everyone updated about the organization.

We wish all our friends and benefactors a wonderful festive season and a prosperous new year. Please share our website and Facebook Pages widely and thank you for your continued support.
Kind Regards,
The VOV Team
